On May 9th David Rhode, a great friend of Pathway, visited and honored Pathway’s former Chairman of the Board, Dave Davis, who passed away in 2018. Mr. Davis and Mr. Rhode shared a love of baseball and softball and viewed this sport as a special way to have fun and to learn some very important lessons.
Mr. Rhode started a foundation, Pitch In For Baseball & Softball, with a mission to provide equipment so that young people can play ball. Pitch In For Baseball and Softball (PIFBS) is a registered 501(c)(3) not for profit organization that provides new and gently used baseball and softball equipment to boys and girls in the United States and around the world who want to play ball but lack the equipment to do so. Over the past decade, the foundation has donated more than $9 million worth of equipment to 800,000 + kids in every state in the U.S. and 100 countries internationally.
The foundation’s gift to Pathway was given as a way to honor Mr. Davis’ life, his dedication to Pathway and his enjoyment with this sport. New softball equipment was donated to Pathway’s physical education department to include bats, balls, gloves, and helmets. Students from the sports club met Mr. Rhode, graciously thanked him for this generous gift and immediately used the equipment for some batting and field practice. This new equipment will impact Pathway’s physical education program for years to come.
