PATH To Domination 9027, The Pathway School’s robotics team, was formed in the summer of 2022 as part of Pathway’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programming. Pathway’s STEM teacher Ms. Lawton and STEM Coordinator Mr. DiMarcella lead the team, along with other program staff, in conjunction with Pathway’s robotics classes. The team provides special education students with the same opportunities for competition and learning that are available to neurotypical students.
The team meets daily to learn about robotics, build and modify the competition robot, and focus on teamwork, team building, collaboration, and developing social skills. The team also works together on strategy and fundraising for the team. Robotics competitions are about more than just scoring points; they’re about learning, building alliances with other school’s teams, working within a community, and much more.
In their 2024 season, PATH To Domination placed first at the FMA District Hatboro-Horsham event for the second year in a row. With their combined points from the Hatboro-Horsham competition and their second match at Bensalem High School, the team qualified for the District Championship at Lehigh University and placed higher than their first season. It was a fantastic way to end another successful season.
The team’s 2025 season was filled with collaboration, teamwork, and school spirit. The team built their robot from scratch for this year’s competition and competed at the FMA Centennial District Event at William Tennent High School. The team formed alliances with other teams and won a match during the competition. We are so proud of their hard work and determination this season and cannot wait to see what they do next year!
