Clinical Services

Experienced clinical staff and programs to support our students

The goal of the Clinical Services Department is to promote the educational, social and emotional development of our students. Through trauma-informed and evidence-based individual and group counseling programs, The Pathway School guides students through social, academic and work placement programs.

The licensed clinical team collaborates with parents, teachers, and integrated services in order to coordinate the developmental, preventative and responsive services that address a student’s academic, behavioral, career, personal, and social development.

Individual Counseling Services

Counselors may meet with students on an individual basis for an acute issue, such as a life event, or receive ongoing services via their IEP when social-emotional needs prevent a student’s access to their education.

Group Counseling Services

Psychoeducational groups are offered as a specific need arises. Groups typically target a particular need or skill, such as grief, anger management, or social skills.

Consultation

Counselors often collaborate with parents, teaching staff, and outside service providers to ensure consistency in therapeutic programming. As our services are not a substitute for outpatient services, counselors will often assist with referrals to outside agencies and services for additional support for students.

Evaluation

Every two years, our certified school psychologists coordinate and contribute to a multidisciplinary evaluation of each student’s current performance and progress. The school psychologists conduct assessment, observation, and consultation to determine and develop appropriate interventions to promote students’ academic, social and emotional success. The evaluation also contributes to the actualization and success of IEP goals.
