Autistic Support Program

Autistic Support Program

About

The Pathway School’s Autistic Support Program is designed for autistic children with limited to no verbal language skills in elementary and middle school. In a small classroom setting, each student receives both individualized and group instruction in academics, behavior, language, emotional support, and sensory needs.

This program helps students grow in their peer relationships, social-emotional skills, and communication abilities. Pathway’s personalized approach ensures that every child gets the support they need to thrive.

Classroom Structure

The Autistic Support Program has classrooms with typically no more than 5 students and is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals, including an Autistic Support Teacher, Registered Behavior Technicians, and a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. Related services are also provided by a Speech Pathologist and Occupational Therapy staff. Together, they support students through curriculum learning, language development, classroom readiness, social-emotional skills, independence, life skills, and appropriate classroom behaviors.

Funding

This program was supported in part through private grant funding. These funds were used to purchase essential items, including specially designed furniture to create a safe and supportive learning space, curriculum products tailored to the students’ needs, and technology products to enrich the overall education experience.
