Just like that, another Extended School Year (ESY) Program is in the books at The Pathway School! Summer at Pathway is always a special time filled with learning, laughter, friendship, and plenty of fun. From exploring new interests and practicing classroom skills to enjoying outdoor activities and exciting trips, our students made the most of every summer day.
We’re grateful for a new partnership with the Sixers Youth Foundation. A generous multi-year grant from the foundation is and will be instrumental in supporting Pathway’s ESY program.
Let’s take a trip down memory lane and look back at another ESY program that helped lead our students down their path to success!
Pathway Players Take the Stage
Lights, camera, action! Our students brought their talents to the stage this summer as part of our drama club. Students had the exciting opportunity to perform for guests at the Zoo Bowl at Elmwood Park Zoo.
It was a fantastic chance for our students to put their stage presence and performance skills to work while building confidence and teamwork.
Clubs, Creativity, and New Interests
There was never a dull moment at Pathway this summer! Students had many fun ways to explore their interests through a variety of clubs, including Art Club, Horticulture, STEM, Physical Fitness Club, and many more.
Whether students were getting creative, being physically active, exploring science, or learning something new, each club gave them a chance to build skills, discover new interests, and have fun with their friends.
Adventures On and Off Campus
The fun continued with trips and activities throughout the summer. Students enjoyed trips to Towamencin Pool, spent time with friends in a gaming truck, and took part in special activities on campus.
New this year, our students had the opportunity to ride bikes and scooters around campus. For some students, this meant practicing skills they already had, while others worked on learning to ride for the first time. These activities encouraged confidence, independence, balance, and perseverance, all skills that can be used far beyond the bike path!
And, of course, no Pathway summer would be complete without our favorite water fun days! Students raced down water slides, played outside, and enjoyed making memories with their friends.
Supporting the Whole Student
At Pathway, we know that success is about more than academics. Our ESY Program gives students ways to strengthen classroom skills while also developing social, physical, communication, and life skills through extracurricular activities and real-world experiences.
By supporting the whole student, we help prepare our students with the skills, confidence, and independence they need to succeed both at Pathway and later in life as adults.
What an incredible summer it has been! We are so proud of everything our students accomplished and all the memories they made along the way. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for the start of another great school year!
