The Pathway School is a nonprofit special education school licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Founded in 1961, Pathway serves students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, emotional disturbances, and other neurological impairments. Pathway’s programs are licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Academic Schools and approved by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Special Education to serve students ages 6–21.

History: Among the first schools of its kind
At its founding in 1961, Pathway was among very few schools in the Greater Philadelphia area designed exclusively for children with special education needs by merging clinical and behavioral services with education. Since then, Pathway has increased enrollment and staff who support the students, developed a vibrant learning environment on a 12-acre campus in Montgomery County, and solidified its reputation as a leader in innovative, high-quality programs and services.
A Message from Pathway's President & CEO
Dear Pathway School Community:
We are two weeks into the new school year, and I must say things could not have started any better!
This autumn, The Pathway School welcomed 20 new students and 10 new staff members, and all seem to be settling in nicely—well done everyone!!
As we begin the new school year, activity in and around the campus has picked up. There have been Program meetings, student convocations and even a pep rally or two! Try outs for our boys’ basketball team and cheer squad began this week—can try outs for the school play be far behind??
We have reintroduced Yondr pouches for our students’ (and my!) cellphones to be locked away for the school day. While I am certain some of our students are not too happy about this, our experience with this last year informs us that this does work, and our students will thrive without their devices for a few hours each day.
Each school year is filled with energy, activity and personal growth. I am fortunate to have a front row seat for all of it!
