The Pathway School has been recognized by the Pennsylvania Positive Behavior Support (PaPBS) Network for successfully implementing School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) with fidelity across all three tiers during the 2023-2024 school year. Pathway is the only school in Montgomery County to achieve fidelity for all three tiers. This recognition highlights Pathway’s dedication to creating a positive learning environment for special education students. The school will be honored at the 2024 Innovate and Integrate: MTSS & PBIS Advanced Implementation Forum on November 13-15, 2024 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, PA.
SWPBIS is a system used to support students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health in school. By using this approach, Pathway creates an equitable learning environment where both students and staff can succeed.
The Pathway School began implementing SWPBIS strategies in the 2019-2020 school year and has since seen a decrease in negative behaviors. This framework supports Pathway’s goal of promoting well-being and empowerment within our students, helping them succeed at Pathway and beyond.
This is the first year that Pathway was recognized for achieving fidelity in all three PBIS tiers. The school was recognized for Tier 1 Fidelity in 2019-2020, as a Tier 1 Participant in 2020-2021, and as a Tier 1 Sustaining Program in 2021-2022. In the 2022-2023 school year, the school was named a Tiers 1-2 Site. The ongoing recognition reflects the staff’s commitment to follow PBIS guidelines and create a positive learning environment for every student.
It’s not about forcing a fit, it’s about finding a place®, and The Pathway School’s staff go above and beyond to implement PBIS and create a welcoming space for all Pathway students.
