ESY Lower School Classroom Teacher - Open Position
The Pathway School’s Extended School Year (ESY) is a 5-week summer program designed to actively engage students in academics, social and life skills, communication, and hands-on learning. The primary goal of ESY is to maintain the progress that the student has made during the regular school year throughout the summer months.
Located on a 12-acre campus in Jeffersonville, PA, The Pathway School provides students with special needs academic, social, and life skills to be successful and independent now and after attending Pathway. Pathway is a nonprofit special education school for students ages 5 to 21 (grades K-12+) from over 50 regional school districts and charter schools. Our unique learning model has solidified Pathway’s reputation as a leader in innovative quality programs, services, and therapeutic support in special education.

Position
ESY Classroom Teacher (Lower School)
Position Schedule
25 day ESY program. 7 hours per day.
Technical Skills
- Ability to provide diagnostic testing and function as part of the diagnostic team process.
- Ability to work with Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s).
- Ability to learn and apply Pathway School-wide Positive Behavior Support System (PBS) as well as individual student Behavior Support Plans.
- Demonstrated ability to work with students that have moderate to severe social and emotional difficulties.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum to meet students’ learning needs as well as motivate students to engage in the learning process.
- Demonstrated ability to follow established procedures when students are in crisis.
- Must be able to collaborate and communicate with parents, school districts, related service providers and paraprofessional staff to meet student needs.

Compliance Requirements
- Must comply with Act 168 and submit a completed Sexual Misconduct Form.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory PA criminal background check, Child Abuse & FBI clearances and pass a drug test, as well as a TB Test.
- Must be able and willing to drive and have a valid PA driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
This position requires an important level of energy. Physical activities can include both sitting and standing for extended periods of time, lifting, climbing, bending/stooping, grasping, and pulling. Must have full range of motion to provide emergency care and/or administer effective/safe CPI techniques. This position requires walking and could include working in both an indoor environment as well as an outdoor environment (cold/hot).
Education
Master’s degree in special education a plus. Bachelor’s degree in special education required
Certification
Must have Pennsylvania Special Education Certification. Must have Elementary Education Certification in the State of Pennsylvania.
Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience working with and supervising paraprofessional staff. A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching students with significant social and emotional needs required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week

Schedule: Monday to Friday
