ESY Autistic Support Teacher – Early Elementary - Open Position
Located on a 12-acre campus in Jeffersonville, PA, The Pathway School provides students, ages 5 to 21, with special needs academic, social, and life skills to be successful and independent now and after attending Pathway.
Summer is a great time for our students to discover new hobbies and passions. During Pathway’s Extended School Year Program, students have the opportunity to join different clubs Pathway offers including STEM, Master Chef, Performing Arts, Sports and Fitness, eGames, and much more. Students are also encouraged to participate in on- or off-campus career opportunities if eligible. We find giving students these options not only show their creativity and passion, but they also have fun while learning!

The position of Classroom Teacher at Pathway requires the ability to provide a challenging and successful academic experience for students, within a therapeutic classroom environment. This position requires the ability to evaluate and assess student instructional and behavioral needs both independently and as part of a team. Must be able to effectively plan and implement individualized remedial instruction and therapeutic behavior management relative to the needs of the individual group in accordance with the school’s philosophy, goals, and positive behavior support model.

Position Schedule
July 8th – August 9th; Monday – Friday; 7.5 hours per day (8 – 3:30)

Reports directly to the Lower/Emotional Support School Principal
Qualifications
Education
A bachelor’s degree in special education is required.
Certification
- Pennsylvania State Special Education Teacher Certification required. Autism Certification is a huge plus.
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching students in a special education environment (experience with autism/emotional/behavioral disorders preferred). We do consider student teaching experience. Should possess solid working knowledge of special education legislation, regulations, curriculum methods and materials.
Compliance
- Must comply with Act 168 and submit a completed Sexual Misconduct Form.
- Must able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory PA criminal background check, Child Abuse & FBI clearances and pass a drug test, as well as, a TB Test;
- Must be able and willing to drive and have a valid PA driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to handle the physical requirements of position which requires working both on-campus and off-campus. This position includes extensive walking, stair climbing, standing, pulling, and lifting. Ability to work with children who are both mentally and physically disabled. This position requires work both indoors and outdoors working in various weather climates.
ESY Compensation: $40/hr
