Who We Serve
Pathway provided a qualified approach to meeting special needs. By “special needs” we mean complex learning disabilities, neurological impairment, and a variety of neuropsychiatric disorders.
The Pathway School’s population encompasses a diverse group of students in both day and residential programs. Students currently range in age from 9-21 years in our day population and 12-21 years in our residential program.
Approximately 50% of both our day and residential students are diagnosed with Pervasive Development Disorder (PDD), the majority of who meet the criteria for Asperger’s.
More than half of our population also have a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and have an identified learning disability such as reading disorder, math disorder, disorder of written expression, auditory processing disorder, receptive/expressive language disorder or non-verbal learning disorder.
Approximately a quarter of our total population also present with mood disorders and anxiety disorders, with the percentage being somewhat higher with the residential program. Within our day program, a quarter of the students function within the mild level of mental retardation, with the percentage significantly lower with the residential population.
Regardless of diagnoses, each student application is reviewed to determine their fit within our population and Pathway’s ability to appropriately respond to their needs.
