Technology
Technology is utilized to assist students in learning. Each classroom is equipped with a minimum of one computer, with more being placed in classrooms where the requirements for computer time are higher. Students can learn the basics of the computer, as well as such standard programs as Microsoft Word and Excel. Specific software is chosen to meet the needs of the students, including software that will help students drill material, organize their thoughts, write more effectively, and explain new ideas. Students may do research on the Internet both in the classroom and in the computer lab. Assistive software such as the talking calculator and word processor can help students with specific disabilities learn.
The use of technology goes beyond basic computers and ventures into personal digital assistants, Smart Boards for instruction, and other devices to aid in teaching and learning.
